You can’t make a great team from players who are unskilled individually but work well together, or from players who are talented but don’t work together. But the foundation of a great team is individual skill. You have to start by bringing together players with exceptional skill. Then they have to work together, or else they’ll look like a bunch of toddlers trying to play.
