One of the things I learned from Master Danshi is the crucial difference between art and entertainment. You perform comedy to earn a living, but that’s different than doing something purely to survive. And that distinction aside, what if you performed stand up in isolation, with no audience?
In short, art is defined by your own understanding of it, but entertainment is what amuses others. It’s important to figure out where your comedy falls on that spectrum.
