There are some acting gigs I take on knowing that they’re going to be a pain in the butt. Reading the script I’ll realize “damn, I’m in this whole things without a break” or “oh look, I have to literally climb a mountain for this scene.” Then there are the times I’ll turn down a part, and I’m aware that this is a pretty pretentious way to put it, but it’s because I can’t “see” the character. The plot might be gripping, but no matter how many pages I flip through, I don’t see who this person is. That’s an earnest, straight-forward “I’m sorry but no” from me.
